Most consultations at Healworks are bulk billed, with no out-of-pocket payment. To be eligible for bulk billing, patients should have a valid Medicare card. Temporary residents should have valid private health insurance.

Please note: from 25 May 2026, consultations with Dr Thanuja Mudalige (Respiratory Medicine) and Dr Udai Wijetunga (Endocrinology) move to a privately billed model with a small out-of-pocket gap fee — approximately $100 for the initial consultation and approximately $75 for follow-up reviews, after the Medicare rebate. Your exact out-of-pocket cost is confirmed at the time of booking, as the Medicare rebate is set by Medicare and may vary. This change allows us to continue delivering timely, high-quality specialist care as the cost of providing these services continues to rise faster than the Medicare rebate.

As Healworks is a specialist service, a valid referral from your GP is required. Typically, GPs send the referral directly to us. Once you have obtained a referral from your GP, you are welcome to make a booking with us.

While TeleHealth offers a convenient way to consult with healthcare professionals, it may not entirely replace the need for in-person examinations, particularly in certain situations. Some medical conditions require physical assessments. However, TeleHealth is incredibly valuable for initial consultations, follow-up appointments, medication management, and discussing non-urgent concerns. Our team will assess your specific situation and advise whether an in-person visit is necessary for a comprehensive evaluation.

Absolutely. Our team has extensive experience in managing patients from residential aged care facilities (RACFs). We are more than happy to coordinate a TeleHealth appointment with your parent, and if possible, with you as well. Once we receive the referral letter from the GP, we'll reach out to the RACF team to arrange the appointment. Your parent's well-being and continuity of care are our top priorities.
